CentralGlen Maye
About Glen Maye
Also known as Glen Mae or 'The Luxuriant Glen'. Well known for its spectacular waterfall with overlooking bridge. At the bottom of the glen is the Mona Erin wheelcase, the only remains of the mining which took place in the glen between 1740 and 1870.
The glen is most unusual for it contains specimens of wood vetch, Hairy Brooma, and Rubus Criniger. In the warm climate of the sheltered river bottom, ferns such as Hart's Tongue thrive. The glen leads down to a pebbled beach, where sea birds, hawks, and fuimars nest.
